Recorded domestic burglary offences have reduced by almost half for England and Wales over the last 10 years. While this is a very positive statistic, there are still close to 230,000 domestic burglaries taking place each year and for those who are victims of these offences it remains a very distressing crime.
This brief examines the levels of domestic burglary across Warwickshire looking at locations of offences, profile of a typical offender, method of entry, victims and the top 10 items stolen.
Also considered are the initiatives from district and borough councils and Warwickshire Police to tackle domestic burglary and information is provided on some of the available products and services aimed at reducing the threat and impact of domestic burglary.
